Mailbag: The Barnhardt Axiom on Politicians was earlier stated by no less than Tolkien!

There are actually TWO “Barnhardt Axioms”.  The first is, “If you can’t stand in front of it and defend it with a rifle, then you don’t really own it, and never did.”

(cough, 401k accounts that your employer won’t let you touch, cough…)

The second, which is referenced below is:

“The culture has degraded such that seeking and/or holding office, especially national-level office, is, in and of itself, proof that a given person is psychologically and morally unfit to hold public office.”

A reader writes in to the [email protected] mailbox:

Hello guys,

I hope you all are well. I came across an early version of the Barnhardt Axiom by one J. R. R. Tolkien. I’ll attach a screenshot at the end. The book is from Jonathan Witt and J. W. Richards called “The Hobbit Party”.
Also, referring to the latest podcast, you hit the nail on the head with the topic of social media and adulterating (of marriage) through use of social media. I succumbed to it over 5 years ago when I came back from deployment. I’d rather forget the whole mess but you should know your warning is true.
Thank you and God be with you.

Here is the Tolkien quote:

“The most improper job of any man, even saints, is bossing other men. Not one in a million is fit for it, and least of all those who seek the opportunity.”

Bruce Jenner is a man. And furthermore I consider that islam must be destroyed.
