Today is the feast that commemorates the day in ARSH 1571 when the vastly out-manned fleet of the Holy League won a decisive victory over the invading Ottoman musloid fleet at the Battle of Lepanto. The Battle was won because the Catholics of Western Europe, en masse, prayed the Rosary for the Fleet and for victory in the battle.
Speaking of encouragement in battles that seem unwinnable, we will conclude with a quote from Sister Lucia, one of the three visionary children of Fatima, as the 100th anniversary of the final apparition is less than a week away. I plan on making a general confession this week. I hope you all will too. Look at what she says: the Virgin has given a “new efficacy”. Consider the victory won against all odds at the Battle of Lepanto, and then consider that the Blessed Mother has given a “new efficacy” proportionate to the evil of these days. How can we not think that the repentance and reversion to Catholicism of a sodomiticalist priest is beyond the scope of the Rosary? The problem isn’t a withdrawl of available graces from heaven, the problem is simply this: NO ONE IS ASKING.
