As I have said many, many times, with Diabolical Narcissists, the main source of narcissistic satisfaction comes not from the commission of the crimes or misdeeds themselves, but in the GETTING AWAY WITH IT – in watching other people ALLOW them to get away with it, looking the other way, lying to cover for them, even actively cooperating with and facilitating them.

“Think about those … women and what they did,” Lauer said. “They came forward and filed complaints against the biggest star at the network they worked at. Think about how intimidating that must have been. Doesn’t that tell you how strongly they felt about you?”

And as I keep trying to get people to understand, these DN Psychopaths are HIGH-FUNCTIONING, oftentimes desperately charming on the surface, successful, well-liked.  It is all a facade.  Behind the false front they project with such skill and nuance, they are demoniacal monsters, devoid of human empathy who view other human beings as animated cartoons that exist only for their twisted amusement. Add Matt Lauer to the list, and knock me over with a feather.
