It’s time to pull out the big guns. No pun intended. Well, maybe just a little.
What you are looking at is the Blessed Virgin Mary wielding a sword in holy hatred. Hatred of whom? Why, satan, of course. Evil. Our Lady HATES EVIL and will aggressively attack satan and the demons in a manful yet always perfectly holy way.
Theophilus was a diocesan lay employee who sold his soul to the devil in exchange for power (ahem, cough, that has no application to today’s “professional catholics” who enrich themselves and feed their own power structure and evil political and cultural cesspits of heresy by turning dioceses into their own personal feifdoms, does it? ahem, cough), and then later implored the Blessed Mother to come and fix his mess. And, being the perfect Mother that she is, she cleaned up Theophilus’ mess.
She charged satan and demanded Theophilus’ soul back, and because satan is impotent, he had to obey. Always remember that. Satan and the demons are IMPOTENT in the face of holiness.
Another word that is used to describe the Blessed Virgin Mary is intransigent. She embodies perfect, holy intransigence. Intransigence means that you refuse to moderate of compromise in any way on a position. When it comes to evil, we are ALL called to be INTRANSIGENT, exactly as the Blessed Mother is intransigent. She didn’t ask satan for Theophilus’ soul. She didn’t invite satan to dinner and laugh at his jokes in the “spirit of compromise”. Nope. She drew an enormous sword (which is an ASSAULT WEAPON) and she went at satan in full honey badger mode.
The ONLY acceptible response to evil, such as abortion, sodomitical abominations of every stripe and Marxism, is with total, complete, intransigence and holy hatred. Just like the Blessed Virgin.
